ITALY TAKES GOLD AND BREAKS WORLD RECORD WITH HELP FROM CALIBRY

19.08.2021
Italian national cycling team won the Olympic gold medal in track cycling and broke the world record at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The team of four men has set the new historical time limit: 3’42’’032. The winners’ names are: Filippo Ganna, Simone Consonni, Francesco Lamon and Jonathan Milan. It is also important to mention their trainer Davide Cassani, who did an excellent job in preparing the champions. After 61 years they managed to bring home the Olympic title.

We would also like to congratulate our Italian partners, 3DiTALY, whose effort cannot be underestimated in this victory. They used Calibry 3D scanner to digitize Simone Consonni and Jonathan Milan. The scanning was commissioned by Pinarello (the manufacturer of bikes) and Hardskin (professional sportswear producer) in order to perfect the athletes’ aerodynamics.
The new world record is the best proof that the studies and multiple tests in the wind tunnel were correct. You can read more on the scanning of athletes in our case study.
